The economy and the world

Does globalization, aside from overcoming geographical, political and cultural barriers, also help make a society more open? What are, or are becoming, the strategic resources of the current international context?
These are just some of the questions which protagonists will ask themselves at the international Economics and the Open Society Forum.

Issues regarding development of the economy and society will be analyzed by first examining the economic aspects of structures and international trends. Participants will explore the effects of economic openness and integration, and the role which new emerging economic powers like China and India have in the world, as well as other countries with extremely high growth rates.

The debates will deal with the effects of freedom on world commerce and the possible consequences of current changes in the international division of labour: does it make sense to defend ourselves from the commercial aggressiveness of Chinese exportations with duties, from the future dynamics of Chinese industrial development, the risks of this uncontrollable race and the dangers of implosion?
Scholars and entrepreneurs will attempt to identify a plan for Italy’s development through harnessing creativity, which guarantees the ability to be innovative and competitive.
