Pietro Modiano
General Manager of Intesa Sanpaolo
Born in Milan in 1951, Pietro Modiano has been the general manager (deputy of the managing director) of the Banca dei Territori Division of Intesa Sanpaolo since January 2007. Prior to that, on November 29, 2004, he became the general manager of the Sanpolo Imi group, managing commercial banking activities. He has been deputy managing director of Unicredit, and managing director of Unicredit Banca d’Impresa and of Unicredit Banca Mobiliare and president of Pioneer Investments. In 1977 he began his professional career in the management of planning and economic research of Credito Italiano, after graduating with honors with a degree in Political Economics from Bocconi University in Milan. He has been an advisor for a variety of companies, including Telecom Italia, Olivetti and e-Mid. Currently he is the vice-president of the Italian Banking Association and a board member of Borsa Italiana. He is married to Barbara Pollastrini, current Minister for Equal Opportunities.
