Pietro Ichino
Editorialist for the Corriere della Sera. Teaches labour law at the Università Statale di Milano and director of the European Master in Labour.
He was a union manager for Fiom-Cgil from 1968 to 1972 and head of the legal services coordination of the Labour Center in Milan from 1973 to 1979. Pietro Ichino has worked in the legal profession since 1975. From 1979 to 1983 he was a member of the Labour Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, elected in the list of the Italian Communist Party. Freelance journalist and editor of the Rivista Italiana di Diritto del Lavoro and since 2003 he has been a member of the editorial board for the journal, Giustizia Civile. He is author of numberous papers and articles. From the pages of the Corriere last summer he relaunched the issue regarding the effectiveness of the public administration. His idea of having an authority for the evaluation of public employees inspired a plan for a law which received bipartisan support in the Chambers.
