Nicholas Donofrio

Executive Vice-President of Innovation and Technology of the IBM Corporation, and Fellow of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers
Executive Vice-President of the Innovation and Technology sector of IBM Corporation, Nick Donofrio is responsible for research, governmental programs, product quality and security, as well as corporate community relations and environmental protection programs for the group. He started working at IBM in 1967 in the sector for integrated circuits development, and he has held various positions from middle management to executive management in a variety of product divisions of the IBM Group. A Fellow of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), in 2005 he was appointed to the Commission on the Future of Higher Education by the U.S. Department of Education. Donofrio is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering (USA), the board of the Bank of New York, the board of trustees at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the board of directors of the Council for the United States and Italy. He has received honorary PhDs in Engineering, from the Polytechnic University in 1999, in Science, from the University of Warwick (England) in 2002, in Technology, from Marist College in 2005, and in Science from the University of Edimburgh (Scotland) in 2006.
