Iain Cokburn

Researcher at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachussets, Iain Cokburn is a professor of economics at the School of Management of Boston University. His research areas include intellectual property, economics of innovation, management of high-technology firms, and biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
He received his undergraduate degree at the University of London in 1984, and a PhD in economics from Harvard University in 1990. He is the author of numerous publications, including “Measuring Competence: Exploring Firm Effects in Pharmaceutical Research” in the Strategic Management Journal, “Generics and New Goods in Pharmaceutical Price Indexes” in the American Economic Review.
