George Alogoskoufis
Greek Minister of Economy and Finance and member of the New Democratic Party since 1996.
Professor of Economics at the University of Athens since 1990, George Alogoskoufis is also noted for having written the “First Convergence” program of the Greek economy. He has been a consultant to the European Commission, the World Bank and other important economic organizations. He has also been a “research fellow” at the Centre of Labour Economics at the London School of Economics and at the centre of economic policy in London. Author of four books and over 40 articles published in the most prestigious academic journals. The paper, “The Dracma: from Phoenix to the Euro” was bestowed with the annual academic award of Athens, in 2002.
