Bruno Contini

With a degree in Economics from Bocconi University, Bruno Contini, professor of Econometrics at the University of Turin, received a PhD in Economics from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh. He has been a consultant for the Italian government (on the commission for “off-the-books” work in 1997) for ISTAT, EUROSTAT, the Banca d’Italia, the European Commission and the World Bank. He was a visiting professor at the University of California at Berkeley from 1979 to 1981, at the University of Tel Aviv in 1992, at the London School of Economics in 1995, and at Princeton University in 2000. He has also been an assistant professor at the University of California at Berkeley. His research areas focus on employment, unemployment, mobility, and employing the elderly and young people. His most recent publications include: Osservatorio sulla Mobilità del Lavoro in Italia: Imprese, Lavoratori e Salari, Il Mulino, 2002. In 1993 he won the Saint Vincent Economics Award for Imprese, Occupazione e Retribuzioni al Microscopio (with R. Revelli), Il Mulino, 1992.
