Andrea Illy
Managing Director of IllyCaffé
Born in Trieste in 1964, Andrea Illy received a degree in chemistry from the University of Trieste with a thesis on “The Quality of Espresso from a Chemical Standpoint” and then attended an Executive Master program at Bocconi. In 1983 he began his career at Nestlé, in research and development. In 1990 he started working in the family company, IllyCaffè, as the head of quality control. In 1993 he became managing director there. Under his guidance the company has expanded its penetration from 29 to 100 countries, and has increased its sales by 130%.
