Alessandro Profumo
Managing Director of Unicredit Group
Born in Genova in February 1957, Alessandro Profumo received a bachelor degree in Business Administration from Università Bocconi and began his career as a banker at Banco Lariano, where he worked from 1977 to 1987. From 1987 to 1989 he worked at McKinsey, where he managed strategic and organizational projects for finance companies, and then went on to Bain, Cuneo & Associati. In 1991 he left consulting for RAS, where he was chief director for the banking and parabanking sector. In ’94 he started working at Credito Italiano, where he was appointed managing director in ’97. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Borse. In 2004 he was appointed as a Knight of Labor. Since December 2005 he has been the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HVB and of Bank Austria Creditanstalt. Alessandro Profumo has been the managing director of Unicredit Group since its birth in 1998 and has been one of the main protagonists of Italian-German banking aggregation with the HypoVereinsbank Group.
