Milan is hosting an International Forum from May 9 to12.
How can we make more room for meritocracy in a system which is sensitive to social issues? What are the political obstacles in market competition?
What are the founding principles of the global geopolitical order? Is it to continue to provide freedom in the job market, maintaining a balance between uncertainty and opportunity?
These are just some of the questions which will be dealt with during The Economy and the Open Society, an international forum sponsored by Università Bocconi and the Corriere della Sera held in Milan from May 9 to 12. More than one hundred world-famous scholars, entrepreneurs, and managers will meet face-to-face in order to find solutions to the real problems inherent in our society. Mario Monti and Angelo Provasoli, President and Rector of Università Bocconi, respectively, and Piergaetano Marchetti, the President of RcsMediaGroup, conceived this event as a laboratory of ideas and a catalyst for reflection, rather than a dispenser of pre-set solutions.
Speakers at the Forum come from both the political and entrepreneurial world, as well as from society at large. The event’s main topic will be examined in four areas: politics, society, the world and citizens.
More than twenty high-level conferences and debates will focus on how our economic and social system can advance in terms of modernization and openness within a global context threatened by regression and closed-mindedness.With this focus, Milan can re-affirm its strategic role as a city which produces new ideas in the processes of socio-economic innovation in Italy and Europe, and in the links between our country and the global economy.
Mario Monti,
President, Università Bocconi
“The enormous changes we are seeing in the Italian economy and society, in terms of both globalization and protectionist reactions, compel us to engage in an open and attentive discussion of international dynamics”
Angelo Provasoli
Rettore Bocconi
"All the good things that healthy economic management can do for the planet and
its inhabitants can only happen in the context of a society that is open in both
geopolitical and ideological in terms."
Piergaetano Marchetti,
President, RcsMediaGroup
“The Forum does not want to be the mere sum of different voices, but rather an attempt to transform them into a chorus where all participants also listen to the whole.”
